SPENCERPORT, N.Y. – Save the date! You’re invited to a community open house to learn about Spencerport Fire District’s new training facility. There will be live demonstrations to show how we use the training facility to better prepare ourselves to respond to emergency calls.

We’re excited to show off the training grounds and explain how it will help us serve you, the members of our community. Below is the tentative schedule that is subject to change for the open house, this Saturday beginning at noon.
You will hear a description in real time of what is happening for each demonstration. Afterwards, you will be free to walk through the Training Facility, talk to the members, visit each site, see the trucks, and ask lots of questions. Lugia’s Ice Cream will also be on site to enjoy after the demonstrations.
Here is the tentative schedule that is subject to change:
12:00 – Welcome briefing in our Station 3 classroom.
12:30 – Demo #1 – Structure fire attack & rescue. We will show the steps for responding to a house fire and perform rescues.
1:00 – Demo #2 – Vertical ventilation techniques. We will show two techniques for vertical ventilation that reduce the build-up of heat and smoke in the structure using our ladder truck, 2910.
1:30 – Demo #3 – MVA extrication of trapped occupants. We will show some techniques for rescuing people trapped in motor-vehicle accidents (MVAs) using hydraulic tools, commonly known as the “jaws of life” off our rescue truck, 2918.
2:00 – Facility opened up for walkthrough until 3:00 and free Lugia’s ice cream!
