It is with great sadness SFD announces the passing of one of our own. FF Dick Ziegler passed yesterday morning surrounded by his wife and children. At the age of 83, Dick was the oldest active member at SFD most recently serving on the Fire Police Squad.

Spencerport Fire District is currently on the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving a dump truck. No injuries are reported. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Spencerport Fire District hosts two new member recruit classes per year under the direction of Training Officer Jake Bromage with assistance from the officers and senior firefighters. This year we welcome 5 new recruits (one of which we welcome back from an extended stay in the Virginia area).

SFD firefighters Dan Tucker and Josh Conrad both recently graduated from Recruit Firefighter Training Class #78 at NYS Academy of Fire Science in Montour Falls. This intensive eleven week program prepares candidates for careers in the fire service and provides a NYS certification.

Eleven firefighters from Spencerport Fire District have been joined by members of multiple area departments to spend Friday evening and all day Saturday learning basic ropes and rigging skills to enhance their abilities with technical rescue situations.
