The Spencerport Volunteer Firemen’s Association is actively seeking local men and women from all walks of life who want to serve their community. Below is a description of the process needed to become one of our members and some of the benefits that come along with it.
Applicants for active membership must be at least 18 years of age, of good moral character, and must either reside or work within the Spencerport Fire District. At this time only applications for interior firefighter will be accepted. Applications can be picked up at Fire Station 1 (when someone is present), printed from this web site, or by e-mailing us at www.info@spencerportfire.org (we will mail you one). Applications must be completely filled out and mailed to :

After successful completion of a background check, an arson check, and passing a physical, the applicant will then be voted into membership at either our February or August meeting. The applicant is then approved for probationary status by the board of Fire Commissioners. Shortly after that the applicant will be contacted by one of our line officers to get started.
All new members start as probationary firefighters. The probationary period lasts 6 months. During this time the probationary firefighter must attend meetings and drills and must successfully complete all training requirements in order to meet the minimum qualifications as an interior firefighter. All training and equipment is provided for you free of charge. Most training is hands-on, however a written and practical exam must be completed to show competency in all subjects covered throughout your training.
NOTE* You will have complete insurance coverage while participating in fire district and association functions.

- Bowling Team: Join the team as they bowl in league play and in local and state tournaments.
- Join the Spencerport Exempt’s social club
- Annual banquet, dinner meetings, kids Christmas party.
- These are just some of the benefits you receive as a member and it is important to note that you can choose to participate in all of these events or none at all, everyone is different, but we feel that these activities help to maintain a happy and healthy environment within the organization.
